HARVESTING RICE FOR OVER 60 YEARS IN COSTA RICA
Our company has been involved in rice cultivation for decades. Initially, we started cultivating rice at La Ligia farm between the years 1958 and 1960, and since then, we have consistently maintained this activity. In total, we have been producing rice in the region for 60 years.
Our farms, both La Ligia and Barbudal, are located in the Parrita district, Parrita canton, in the province of Puntarenas, Costa Rica.
CLIMATE AND CULTIVATION ON OUR FARMS
Regarding the traditional crops in the area where our farms are located, in addition to rice, we cultivate African palm and pastures for grazing cattle, primarily beef cattle. These are the predominant crops in our region, complementing our agricultural activities on the farm.
The area where our farms are situated is characterized by a humid tropical climate, typical of the central Pacific region of Costa Rica. The average annual precipitation in this area is around 3600 mm, and daily temperatures range between 25 and 33 degrees Celsius on average throughout the year.

EXCELLENCE IN RICE PRODUCTION: VARIETIES AND YIELD
Currently, on our farms, we cultivate rice varieties known for their high milling quality and exceptional culinary value. Among the varieties we manage are Palmar 18, Senumisa 2, and Senumisa 20.
As for the yield per hectare in our rice cultivation, we achieve approximately 4.5 tons of clean and dry rice bran.
ADVANCING WITH PRECISION AND SUSTAINABILITY
On our rice farm, we implement precision agriculture for optimal agronomic management, characterizing soils and strategically placing rice varieties. We tailor the management of plots based on their specific needs, promote soil regeneration, and use certified seeds and microbiological treatments during planting. Additionally, we have expansion plans to cultivate special rice varieties, including aromatic and low-chemical-impact varieties, as part of our ongoing improvement and expansion efforts.
OUR ENVIRONMENTAL COMMITMENT ON THE RICE FARM
At our rice farm, we focus on soil regeneration as the foundation for fertilization, utilizing beneficial fungi and bacteria that enhance soil health and reduce the need for nitrogen-based fertilizers. Additionally, we incorporate green manures like Sesbania sp to increase soil organic matter.
For phytosanitary control, we employ biological products with drones, minimizing drift. In herbicide applications, we use tractors with GPS systems for optimal precision and minimal drift.
Our commitment to sustainability and environmental care guides our agricultural practices, with soil regeneration and precise control serving as examples of our environmentally responsible approach.

Additionally, we have created an internal community on the farm, where some families have grown, providing them with decent housing and recreational spaces such as playgrounds and soccer fields for both children and adults.
